- Overseeing the provision of clinical pharmacy services across all sites of Mackenzie Health
- Ensuring the daily monitoring and reporting of clinical and quality indicators and proactively acts to correct and/or improve when needed to ensure clinical operational targets are met
- Providing performance feedback, coaching and mentoring to clinical pharmacists
- Representing pharmacy as the professional practice lead and education coordinator
- Maintaining up to date corporate and departmental medication management policies, including medical directives
- In collaboration with the Pharmacy Managers, leading the recruitment and selection of Clinical Pharmacists, students and other roles, as required
- Continuously evaluating and developing training and orientation materials for all new staff
- Serving as member of pharmacy leadership team
- Sharing in departmental leadership on-call responsibilities
- Serving as one of the designated narcotic signers in the department
- Registered Pharmacist, in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (Part A)
- Advanced degree in Pharmacy (Pharm. D) or
- Bachelor of Pharmacy degree with a minimum of 5 years experience in an acute care hospital setting
- Preference will be given to candidates who have completed an accredited hospital pharmacy residency
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in a formal leadership role
- Broad clinical pharmacy knowledge and expertise.
- Demonstrated ability to lead advancement of clinical pharmacy programs through continuous and sustained process improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to develop educational programs, preferred.
- Demonstrated interprofessional collaboration.
- Ability to coach and mentor a cohort of pharmacy staff in their ongoing professional development.
- Demonstrated sensitivity and ability to work effectively in a diverse environment and with diverse communities.
- Commitment to maintaining patient, staff and financial confidentiality.
- Knowledge of hospital administration and government health organizations.
- Excellent ability to problem solve individually and within a team.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Effective teamwork and conflict management skills
- Computer literacy in a Windows environment utilizing Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook at an intermediate level, as well as a good understanding of scheduling systems.
- Strong time management and organizational skills with an ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
- Proactive and self-motivated with an ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Demonstrates leadership competencies consistent with position level (refer to Appendix).
- Proven attendance record.
- Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
- Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.
- Effectively uses empathy in interactions with others.
