- The Category Development Manager will play a key role providing Assortment, Merchandising, Pricing and Shelving recommendations to the Canadian Sales Team while forging strong cross-functional partnerships incl. Sales, Commercial Strategy and Marketing teams to identify opportunities and develop customer-centric selling stories.
- A self-starter with an innovative, analytical, solution -oriented, strategic mindset to evaluate and identify Category and Customer growth opportunities while offering a clear point of view leveraging syndicated marketplace reporting.
- An expert storyteller interpreting POS, loyalty, and shopper data to develop best-in-class Category Reviews.
- Provides adhoc Sales support of presentation development identifying strategic account opportunities including space to sales analytics and ability to influence through fact-based storytelling.
- Ad-hoc reporting with headquarter and Division/Team focus.
- Educates and disseminates HQ strategic information (brand & insights), studies and analyses, to Team and Account with market focus.
- Builds relationships with North American and Global Shopper Category Development Team to leverage and share best demonstrated practices.
- B.S. or B.A. degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years of experience in Category Management (or related roles) within consumer products industry with manufacturer or syndicated data supplier. Previous customer facing experience is an asset.
- Direct sales experience in consumer packaged goods industry is a plus.
- Strong proficiency and expert knowledge working across multiple systems including customer tools. i.e. Nielsen, Numerator, LDIA, Springboard, Circana.
- Superb communication skills (oral and written) with experience presenting data and findings to senior level audiences incl. at customer engagements.
- Demonstrated analytical skills, ability to distill vast amounts of data into critical business insights to activate.
- Strong competency in time management to assist in successfully managing multiple projects.
- Expected travel - 10-15%
