- Organize and assess financial statements, reports, and forecasts for management review, ensuring clarity and accuracy
- Oversee month and year end closing processes, reconciling accounts and resolving discrepancies as needed
- Evaluate accounting issues and prepare non-recurring journal entries
- Gather and explore data for key performance indicators and risk metrics, providing valuable insights
- Collaborate on budget preparation, forecasting, risk assessment, compliance reports, as well as fulfilling ad hoc reporting needs
- Create Financial Discussion and Analysis reporting for presentation to Senior Management and the Board
- Establish and document accounting controls through the development of policies and procedures, ensuring transparency and efficiency
- Uphold compliance with accounting standards and regulations, safeguarding integrity and reliability
- Influence and support various special projects as needed, leveraging expertise and teamwork to achieve targets
- Degree or Diploma in Accounting, or equivalent experience of 5 years in progressive accounting roles.
- CPA Designation is strongly preferred
- 3+ years of experience in a the insurance industry
- Proficient computer skills, specifically with Excel, databases and accounting software
- Sage experience is considered an asset
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization skills, accuracy, and ability to prioritize tasks
