- Monitors project plans, schedules, and budgets for projects. Identifies, develops, and gathers necessary resources to ensure project completion.
- Manages all aspects of an engineering project and program.
- Works with the Engineering Manager to allocate Engineering and Certification resources.
- Drives strategic program planning and assigns tasks to ensure business targets are met.
- Directs the work of employees assigned on complex projects in technical engineering and administrative areas.
- Supports and liaises with Sales Managers, Program Managers, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and other functions from a technical Engineering Lead perspective.
- Conducts project meetings and prepares reports to communicate the status of the project within and beyond the project team.
- Sets priorities, allocates tasks, and supervises project staff to meet project targets, budgets, and milestones.
- Identifies and reacts to complex project problems and recommends solutions, such as reallocating resources, and assisting resolution development.
- Acts as a primary contact with key customers and develops professional relationship with customers and understands their needs to meet demands within the contracted scope.
- Directs all phases of engineering programs from inception through completion.
- Oversees and coordinates the administrative and operational aspects of ongoing projects within program guidelines.
- Supports the preparation of external proposals, internal work statement quotations and terms/conditions of contracts.
- Reviews project and budget status, manages schedules and prepares reports.
- Monitors and assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.
- Represents Engineering as the primary customer engineering contact.
- Establishes design concepts, criteria and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration, and test.
- Meets program schedules and budgets and maintains the integrated master schedules for project(s).
- Travel up to 10-15%, based on business needs.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience.
- Understanding of radar systems, Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems, and hardware and software integration programs would be an asset.
- Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must be able to work in a team environment.
- Able to travel globally to visit customer or supplier sites for short periods of times.
- Holds, or is eligible to obtain, Professional Engineers license in the Ontario.
