Responsibilities:
  • Transcribe digital dictation, create documents from standard forms or handwritten notes, or edit various legal documents.
  • Prepare Court materials such as application records, books of authorities, appeal records and appeal books.
  • Maintain lawyers' calendars and contacts, schedule client appointments as directed and arrange travel schedules as necessary.
  • Organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete these tasks under time constraints.
  • Perform client conflict checking, open new client matters and maintain established files.
  • Prepare client billings, respond to billing inquiries and coordinate with clients on billing preferences.
  • Maintain an efficient manual and electronic file system.
  • Possess strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • A client-focused approach and commitment to providing exceptional service to internal and external clients.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of a recognized Legal Assistant Program (equivalencies will be considered).
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in an active litigation practice.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and document management software.
  • Experience working on Federal Court Filings would be an asset.
