- Designs, implements, schedules, conducts, and monitors strength and conditioning programs for varsity teams that are geared toward optimizing performance and decreasing injury potential.
- Maintains a safe, productive, and inviting exercise environment while providing student-athletes with guidance and proper techniques for weight-training, speed, agility, and conditioning program.
- Provides clear and consistent feedback to coaches on the progression of student-athletes in accordance with NCAA legislation, and maintains up-to-date records on the strength program of each team and student-athlete.
- Mentors professional staff, while assisting in the coordination of weekly work schedules to ensure sufficient coverage.
- Coordinates rehabilitation and return-to-play protocols for injured student-athletes at the direction of the athletic training staff
- Reviews and maintains procedures and protocols reflective of industry best practices, and keeps informed of contemporary trends, tactics, techniques and strategies.
- Assists in equipment maintenance and repair and attends continuing education events.
- Contributes to the overall success of the Athletics Department by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities may include event management, facility supervision, assigned administrative tasks, committee work, or representing the Athletics
- Department at conferences/meetings.
- Bachelor's degree in physiology, exercise science, sport science, or related field from accredited college or university is required.
- Master's degree in one of those fields is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of two years experience in individual and group performance training programs strongly preferred.
- Previous experience at the collegiate or high school level preferred.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills, whether dealing with individuals or groups, and an ability to work well with different constituents.
- Strong initiative, detail, and follow-up skills with student-athletes, staff members, and administration.
- Demonstrated leadership, vision, personnel, and management skills.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to set and achieve or exceed goals and meet deadlines.
- Ability to learn and apply University policies and procedures to ensure operational compliance and reliable judgement.
- General computer knowledge with a proficiency in Word and Excel.
- NSCA-CSCS certification (or equivalent) is required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule expected.
- Early morning, evening, and weekend availability is required.
- Flexibility with an evolving work environment is important.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to successfully complete a background check, motor vehicle check, and drug test.
- Current CPR, AED, and first aid certifications required. Training and recertification can be provided if necessary.
- Compliance with NCAA Division III rules and regulations required.
- Compliance with athletic conference rules and regulations required.
- Ability to demonstrate and teach sport-specific skills required.
- Ability to move about campus and other locations.
- Physical ability to include standing and/or walking for long periods, bending, kneeling and stooping, manual dexterity, and ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
