- Strong understanding of financial markets, securities, and portfolio management processes.
- Strong technical knowledge on systems and infrastructure in order to deliver data and project initiatives.
- Technical proficiency, including familiarity with database management, SQL, or relevant programming languages.
- Contribute to deliverables and projects being on schedule and meeting regulatory requirements.
- Identify user requirements by working with a number of key individuals from the business, project team and IT, producing high-level business requirements and liaising with development to take these through to a detailed functional specification.
- Prepare test plan and test cases.
- Participate in business testing for key projects
- Other tasks as requested by management.
- Understand how Scotia and JFL's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with JFL's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

- University/college degree in Computer Science / Software Engineering or equivalent experience
- You must be a creative problem solver, self-starting, results-oriented and highly motivated individual with very good analytical skills in order to apply this knowledge to assist in the resolution of complex business problems.
- You must possess very good interpersonal and strong communication skills in order to effectively lead and work with end users and members of the team. The incumbent is expected to use diplomacy, judgement and persuasion to secure agreement and cooperation from departments involved in a project or deliverable.
- Experience working across multiple teams and functions to ensure alignment
- Ability to adapt quickly to new processes and standards, with a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service
- Experience delivering technical projects that span change in multiple front, back and mid-office systems and teams
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver working results.
- Ability to lead and foster engagement and motivation within team
- Knowledge of market values, book values, asset classes and security identifiers.
- Previous experience with Advent Modules: APX, Revenue Center, Rules Manager, Moxy as well as CRM and Bloomberg.
- Bilingual in English and French is required. Pursuant to a language needs assessment conducted by Scotiabank, the successful candidate will be required to be able to communicate in English in addition to French because they will serve and English as well as French-speaking clientele.
