Summer Program Assistant (Chinese Speaking), Yet Keen Seniors' Day

- Offers regular technical coaching sessions to seniors to support them in participating virtually.
- Revamps the program blog by organizing existing content, translating between English and Chinese, and uploading materials to the WordPress site as needed.
- Generates blog content with Yet Keen history based on archival materials.
- Supports promotion of the program by creating posters and web images
- Supports in-person activities by setting up program space and taking attendance.
- Perform administrative duties as required (e.g. Inputting and organizing attendance data, preparing monthly calendar mailing)
- Assists the Yet Keen team in organizing and hosting special events such as birthday parties.
- Hosts regular online classes and activities on Zoom, takes attendance, and tackles any technical issues as needed.
- Participates in cross team meetings and supports colleagues in the Community Engagement Team at SWCHC if needed
- Demonstrated interest in working with seniors or the Chinese Canadian communities.
- Ability to work in group settings as well as independently.
- Demonstrated experience in Zoom, graphic design (Canva), blog design and maintenance (WordPress, Blogspot)
- Effective at communicating (both verbal and written) and problem solving.
- Self-motivated, resourceful, reliable, punctual, detail-oriented
- Understanding and analysis of the importance of equity and anti-oppressive practices in seniors’ service
- Criminal Reference check for working with vulnerable populations.
- Experience working with marginalized populations facing multiple barriers is a bonus.
- SWCHC has a mandatory vaccination policy. This policy requires all staff at SWCHC to submit proof of vaccination or statement of medical exemption. If a staff is not able to provide proof of vaccination, they are required to undergo rapid antigen testing twice a week within a maximum of 48 hours before their next shift.
- English, written and spoken, is essential.
- Written Chinese and reading comprehension is required.
- Ability to speak Cantonese and/or Mandarin is required
