We are looking for a Mechanical Designer in the manufacturing industry to join the growing team for our client in Burlington, ON.The primary responsibility of the Mechanical Designer is to create designs, drawings, perform calculations, and conduct cost analyses to ensure the successful execution of engineering projects with minimal oversight. In addition to this, the Mechanical Designer will use the Process and Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs) to generate detailed equipment fabrication, assembly and general arrangement drawings.Advantages

Responsibilities
Utilize Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) to design detailed equipment skids on SolidWorks
Collaborate with production team to ensure designs meet manufacturing capabilities, serviceability, ease of assembly, and aesthetic appeal
Develop fabrication drawings in accordance with applicable standards
Interface with purchasing and production team to generate Bill of Materials (BOM)
Complete as built drawing updates
Scrutinize drawings to ensure accuracy, appropriate materials, and proper manufacturing sequencing. Implement necessary modifications before final review by the Project Engineer.
Apply engineering principles to a variety of system designs, collaborating with the engineering team to ensure projects are completed within schedule and budget constraints.
Develop testing procedures, load ratings, and perform detailed structural analysis through finite element analysis (FEA).
Collaborate with cross-functional departments such as electrical, procurement, applications, quality, and manufacturing to devise designs that seamlessly integrate electrical and mechanical systems while meeting project requirements.
Deliver external technical support to both new and existing customers, involving field visits, customer meetings, and design reviews.
Provide internal technical support to the shop floor, encompassing the interpretation of internal and customer drawings and specifications.
Manage multiple projects concurrently, often with tight deadlines and competing priorities.
Handle estimating tasks, including material selection and the creation of Bill of Materials (BOMs).
Exhibit a deep understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Consistently deliver high-quality work that aligns with specifications, deadlines, and budget constraints.

Holds a College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a University degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Possesses over 5 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering and design within a manufacturing or processing industry, water/wastewater processing knowledge is an advantage.
A Professional Engineer (PE) designation is considered an asset.
Demonstrates meticulous attention to detail and consistently delivers accurate calculations and documentation.
Proficient in the use of SolidWorks CAD software.Summary
