Why is this role important?Reporting to the Manager, Analytical Data Management (ADM), the Program Lead, ADM, plays a key role in the development, maintenance and enhancement of corporate analytical data and standard code. Working within an interdisciplinary matrix team, this role provides leadership in implementing best practices, optimizing analytical data assets, and ensuring consistency across various business functions. Working with business and technical teams, the program lead supports adoption and provides expert guidance and drives improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in analytical data and processes. The Program Lead will supervise an interdisciplinary team to meet key project deliverables, and to ensure the delivery of measurable improvements that will lead to overall efficiencies.What you'll do1. Leads, manages and motivates the ODT reporting team to meet operational and strategic commitments while maintaining alignment to long-term corporate strategy. Supervises, coaches and mentors team members and provides feedback to ensure effective communication and partnership with internal and external stakeholders; provides clear direction; effectively delegates; monitors work plans, activities, and workload; assesses performance of staff to ensure that quality is maintained; provides opportunities for development; conducts annual performance management reviews and leads by example by living CIHI's core values.2. Provides leadership to ADM operational activities which includes managing the General Use Data (GUD) files production releases, identifying solutions for GUD file enhancements, fulfilling stakeholder requests, improving quality, and developing and maintaining standard operation procedures, business rules, documentation, etc.3. In collaboration with other ADM program leads, provides leadership in the planning and execution of ad-hoc information quality projects, such as targeted information quality analysis, process improvement initiatives.4. Communicates regularly with the ADM team, and internal stakeholders on the status of projects and on their results/findings. Prepares reports, discussion papers and presentations related to projects and findings as required. 5. Provides advice and support to internal stakeholders on corporate standard tools, methodologies, and best practices. Solicits input and feedback from stakeholders to develop and enhance the products, tools and services provided by the ADM department.6. Develops and maintains project plans including the development of the project scope, identifying milestones and resource requirements. Develops Gantt charts as needed. Monitors project progress, reports on project status, manages resources, identifies issues and makes recommendations to the management team.7. Contributes to the overall planning activities for the ADM department, including the development and monitoring of the department's operational plan and budget, communicating with program areas on areas of interest and priorities.8. Maintains current knowledge about analytical techniques, and industry best practices related to data analysis and data management.9. Respects privacy and confidentiality of information by following policies in Privacy and Confidentiality of Health Information at CIHI and related procedures and directives.What you'll bring to the table
Masters' degree in statistics, mathematics, health studies/services research, health informatics, epidemiology or similar field. Consideration may be given to candidates with equivalent combination of skills and experience.
A minimum of five (5) years related experience. Experience in analysis of health care data is an asset, plus one to three (1-3) years of people leadership experience and working within a matrixed team environment
Experience in the following areas: data governance, data management, information management, data quality, metadata management.
Significant knowledge of CIHI data holdings
Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize and communicate complex information.
Excellent customer-focus, communication, and collaboration skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships at various levels of the organization.
Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills; both written and oral.
Experience in analyzing large cross-sectional and longitudinal data sets.
Advanced Python or R skills would be an asset.
Ability to fulfill occasional travel requirements.
Fluency in English required, bilingualism in both official languages is an asset.
