Position OverviewAs an experienced Interior Design Technologist, this role serves as a critical bridge between the conceptual design and construction phases of projects of our mid to high rise buildings. Collaborating closely with the architectural team, consultants, and suppliers. The successful candidate will utilize Revit to translate schematic designs into detailed construction-ready formats, ensuring both aesthetic alignment and functional execution.Primary Responsibilities:Project Management and Client Interaction:
  • Prepare and present design concepts that align with the overall vision of the building, seeking client approval through quality drawings, models, and renderings.
  • Attend client meetings and actively participate in all phases of design approval (schematic, 30%, 60%, and 90% design development).
  • Coordinate with consultants, prepare meeting agendas, and distribute meeting minutes. Review drawings prior to the architect's evaluation and document project milestones.
  • Manage and update the interior design schedule in Wrike or Microsoft Planner, reporting on task progress.
Technical Design and Execution:
  • Perform drafting and modeling using AutoCAD and Revit, focusing on various layout designs including suites, kitchens, and public spaces.
  • Produce detailed interior design plans, including reflected ceiling plans, common areas, enlarged suite plans with kitchen annotations, elevations, details, and wayfinding signage.
  • Following project approval, finalize designs including drawings and specifications, and oversee the selection of materials using sample boards and fixture schedules to ensure functionality and aesthetics.
  • Analyze and review architectural plans and drawings, highlighting any possible risks or problems and making amendments using Revit.
General Responsibilities:
  • Oversee construction site visits, reporting on any deficiencies and documenting construction conflicts, while offering resolutions.
  • Other duties as required.
Requirements:
  • Diploma or Degree in Architecture, Interior Design or Architectural Technology an asset
  • 5+ years of experience in Interior Design
  • Considerable knowledge of modern building construction methods and materials
  • Considerable knowledge of the terminology, methods, practices, and techniques of architectural drafting.
  • Ability to prepare architectural designs, plans, and specifications, using AutoCad and Revit.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the team
  • Strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code
  • Excellent presentation and graphic skills
