- Working towards an Undergraduate/Graduate degree or diploma in Occupational Hygiene, Occupational and Environmental Health, Occupational Health, or Industrial Hygiene
- Motivated self-starters, able to work under minimal supervision and be able to manage several projects simultaneously
- Comfortable working in a dynamic work environment with a willingness to work outdoors and able to operate vehicles, at our operations, in various weather conditions and terrain
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a capability to communicate complex ideas to all levels
- Excellent computer skills with the ability to track and analyze data as well as manage project timelines
- Strong working knowledge of MS Word and Excel is necessary, and a working knowledge of PowerPoint and Access
- Impeccable record keeping and excellent organizational skills
- Experience working in mining or heavy industry considered an asset
- Participation in the health and safety programs of Teck to ensure that everyone goes home safe and healthy every day
- Implementing hygiene program elements and creating exposure control plans
- Experience working effectively with hourly and management employees as well as Occupational Health and Safety Committees
- Assisting in optimizing the industrial hygiene program which will include conducting ergonomic evaluations, tracking equipment inventory, and conducting surveys
- Collecting a variety of occupational hygiene samples including noise, particulate, and other airborne contaminants
- Supporting the hearing conservation program, chemical management plan and respiratory protection program
- Managing contractor pre-clearance and access systems
- Facilitating safety training for hourly and management employees
- Creating and evaluating innovative ideas and technologies to help improve the way we do business
- Financial assistance to help with travel costs and co-op fees
