- Provide nursing supports to Clinics: Botox clinic, Consultative Development Clinic, CP Neuromotor Clinic, Nutrition clinic, Oral Motor feeding clinic, and Transitions clinic.
- Provide clinical consultation and direct clinical appointments to support hygiene, sexuality, catheterization, bowel and bladder management, gastrostomy tube care, seizure management, and nutrition.
- Support physicians with CDC Medical review days.
- Educate clinical staff on EOK policies and procedures for infection control and safe work practices. Support training for staff in-centre, and in day care settings for toileting, nutrition, seizure management, G-tube management, and medication documentation requirements.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, clinical staff, and community agencies for optimum family-centered supports.
- May be required to attend and participate in meetings such as Health and Safety, Infection Control and contribute to the development of new clinical processes as needed.
- Collaborate with the Clinical Services Supervisor to develop, implement and deliver all respite programming
- Complete intake/admission assessments with clients and their caregivers
- Develop and review individual client care plans
- Communicate care plans with respite staff
- Review and record medical documentation
- Provide onsite supervision, guidance and training to respite staff
- A Nursing Degree from a recognized school of nursing, and current registration with the Ontario College of Nurses.
- Three years of pediatric nursing experience required with an area in developmental and physical disabilities preferred.
- Experience working with children and/or young adults with medical needs such as seizures, tracheostomies and feeding tubes
- Experience working with children and/or young adults with challenging behaviours
- Experience mentoring/coaching RNs/RPNs is preferred
- Experience with feeding, swallowing and oral motor assessment skills an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge regarding community resources and supports an asset.
- Demonstrated nursing assessment and problem solving skills and the capacity to work well within an interdisciplinary team.
- Innovative self-starter who is client focused and is committed to providing accessible comprehensive primary health care.
- Must be available to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- Current CPR and First Aid certificate.
- Possession of a valid Ontario’s driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
