The rank will be determined according to the candidate’s qualifications and experience. This will be a three-year (renewable) appointment and does not confer eligibility for tenure.The Department of Psychiatry is proud to host a respectful, multi-disciplinary and inclusive work setting in its multiple areas of activity, which includes the training of a diverse group of students from medicine, psychology, occupational therapy, nursing, and social work.The successful candidates will be based at the Montreal Children’s Hospital (MCH), a world leader in specialized mental health care providing tertiary pediatric care to children and adolescents. The MCH is part of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC)—a major teaching hospital affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Canada’s internationally renowned McGill University, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec.Job DutiesThe successful candidate’s responsibilities will include providing care in our crisis center services, consultation-liaison psychiatry, inpatient psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, outpatient psychiatry clinics, in general and specialized psychiatry, as well as collaborative care with our community partners.The successful candidates will join a dynamic group of dedicated subspecialists and caring professionals who work to transform our care services in order to better respond to the needs of children and their families. Encouraging career development by supporting our department members’ areas of special interest is an important part of our mandate.The successful candidate will be expected to be actively involved in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (i.e., research, teaching, supervision of students and residents, and involvement in academic and administrative committees).McGill faculty members are expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community. A demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion is also expected.Qualifications and Education RequirementsCandidates must:
  • Hold an MD and hold, or be eligible for, licensure as a psychiatrist in the province of Quebec;
  • Hold a subspecialty degree in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (or equivalent);
  • Demonstrate advanced capacity to engage in all aspects of a university affiliated psychiatry department (i.e., clinical, education and/or research);
  • Have strong interest in teaching and research;
  • Clinician-scientists with MD-PhD are strongly encouraged to apply;
  • Bilingual language skills (French and English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire the necessary language skills to practice medicine in Quebec. Candidates should be able to interact in English and in French with patients, families and health care professionals.
