Kinship Services Worker

- Provide ongoing service to an assigned caseload of Kinship Service providers and children residing in Kinship Service Agreements in accordance with agency and ministry standards.
- Works collaboratively with other positions to ensure that family plans of service and kinship plans of service are coordinated and mutually developed.
- Develop partnerships in the community and collaborate with other social services in a community-based model of service.
- Prepare and ensure accurate, thorough, and timely recording of case information according to Agency requirements, the CYFSA and Kinship Standards.
- Completes assessments and ongoing services of Kinship Service homes for children in out-of-care placements.
- Participate in case conferences, staff meetings and professional development opportunities both within and outside the agency
- B.S.W. or B.A. or equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates with other academic qualifications and related work experience, plus demonstrated ability, will be considered.

- Demonstrated understanding of the Child Welfare Organization within the community context, and an aptitude to learn the theories and skill sets associated with child welfare work.
- Thorough understanding of and ability to practice strength based, anti-oppressive and culturally sensitive approach with children, youth, their caregivers, and extended family (kin and kith).
- Demonstrated ability to gather, integrate and interpret complex information.
- Strong human relations skills, and a demonstrated ability to form effective working relationships with Kinship Service Providers and Agency Staff Excellent crisis intervention skills.
- Strong time management skills and ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work effectively with diverse communities.
- Proven ability to work as an integral member of a team.
- Computer literate.
- Reliable vehicle, safe driving record and valid G Driver’s License.
- Upon offer of employment, submission of a Current Criminal Records Check (Vulnerable Sector), deemed satisfactory to the employer..
- Travel to any of our District offices to provide services required.
