- Excellent verbal and written communication skills that cater to all levels.
- A proven history to meet tight deadlines, work under pressure and juggle multiple priorities.
- Previous experience in a regulated industry and/or public utility is a definite asset.
- Strategic oversight and coordination of utility submissions to the UARB including liaison with Board Counsel and board consultants/expert witnesses.
- Conducting financial analysis and assessment of financial statements and accounting policies.
- Providing financial and technical analyses and evaluations of utility capital expenditure requests
- Assisting with hearings and decision writing
- Engagement of appropriate consultants
- Complaint handling
- Conducting the research and studies
- Participating on Steering Committees and stakeholder meetings involving NSPI, Department of Energy, or other government agencies and interest groups
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities consistent with the classification of the position.
- 10 years of post-designation experience providing accounting, financial, and management services.
- Ability to interpret or apply International Financial Reporting Standards and other Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Highly developed analytical and problem resolution skills with the ability to clearly and simply convey complex concepts.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a committed approach that shows initiative and adaptability.
- Ability to understand and interpret relevant statutes and regulations.
- Audit, consulting, or similar advisory services in a utility or regulatory context is an asset.
- Working knowledge of MS Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel; and
- Working knowledge of ratemaking, regulatory accounting, public utilities regulation and operations is an asset.
- Ability to meet strict deadlines, have superior attention to detail, and work well both independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise tact, discretion, and diplomacy.
