Description :The Remote Site Technicians will safely and effectively diagnose, repair and or assemble all Caterpillar mining and earthmoving equipment in a timely manner while ensuring high quality standards and positive customer relations.As a Remote Site Technician, YOU will experience:

In a typical day, YOU will:
  • Participate in safe, environmentally sound and healthy work behaviors at all times, in support of Toromont’s Health and Safety Policies, Programs and initiatives
  • Diagnose mechanical problems using Caterpillar testing equipment
  • Repair and/or assemble allied or competitive Caterpillar earthmoving equipment as required within established time lines and quality standards
  • Prepare service reports and service documentation in an accurate and timely manner
  • Participate as an integrated member of onsite mechanical staff
  • Maintain good customer relations
  • Comply with company and customer health and safety policies and procedures
Must-haves for this role
  • Post secondary education with a valid Heavy Equipment Technician license
  • Highly safety conscious with a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a licensed technician supporting CAT mining equipment and more specifically 777-785, 6020-6030 shovels and BH fronts
  • Team player willing to work in rotational shifts and on call schedules in support of business needs
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical, powertrain and hydraulic systems
  • Customer centric with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Focused, energetic, self-motivated and organized with superior attention to detail
  • Proven ability to complete repairs/service within established time guidelines in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • Highly proficient in computer skills (specifically, SIS, CAT ET, DBS, Microsoft Applications)
  • Vast knowledge of warranty procedures on Caterpillar construction and mining equipment to support immediate decision based repairs STD, EXD, Emissions, GET, Frame and attachment
  • Certified and competent with material handling equipment, EWP and man lift
  • Confident and determined to complete safe full service repairs and maintenance outdoors in the elements year round
  • Strong understanding of cutting, welding and fabrication
  • Knowledge of competitor’s equipment would be an asset
  • Competent in operation of large field and fuel lube trucks
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract
  • Must be willing to travel to different Mine sites to support Toromont mining operations
