Chief 1st Class Power Engineer

- Ensures total care and control of a large ammonia-refrigerated plant
- Leads Power House personnel and ensures compliance with the Manitoba Pressure Vessels Act and Power Engineers regulations
- Responsible for the performance of the Power Engineers and takes appropriate actions in line with the Power Engineers Act and Company Policy
- Participates in the development of a preventative maintenance program
- Ensures daily plant inspection of the ammonia-refrigeration, boiler systems, and that all systems are operating in a safe and expected manner
- Ensures the recording of data and all relevant information to the operation of the plant under the Chief Engineer’s jurisdiction
- Undertakes capital projects to improve operating performance of the plant
- Responsible for month end utility reporting
- Energy champion for the maintenance department
- Hold a 1st Class Power Engineering ticket
- 5 year’s related experience in a manufacturing industry or an operating facility
- Strong organizational skills
- Highly motivated and a self-starter - able to work well with minimal supervision
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good computer skills
- Experience in a food processing environment
- Good computer skills - proficient in Microsoft office applications & experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Experience with root cause analysis & continuous improvement programs such as 6Sigma
- Requires initiative, results oriented, demonstrated leadership & excellent communication skills
