1.5 million research funding as the principal investigator. In 2022, Dr. Wang was appointed as the Director of Bruce McManus Cardiovascular Biobank, which has the largest collection of explanted hearts in Canada. Dr. Wang’s research program leverages biobank human specimens, mechanistic studies, and cutting-edge ‘Omics’ technologies to advance cardiovascular medicine for patients who suffer from atherosclerotic disease (blockage of the blood vessels). Therapeutics, vascular biology, and technology development are the three pillars of the research program. The Wang lab currently has one postdoctoral fellow, three graduate students, and two undergraduate students on the team. Her team embraces a can-do attitude to transcend the boundaries between disciplines and push back the limits of traditional methods.Faculty profile: https://pathology.ubc.ca/2022/12/01/ying-wang/Lab website:Publications:A research technician is sought to assist with trainees’ wet lab research (90%) and basic management of the lab (10%). Regarding wet lab research, candidates are expected to lead experiments related to the ex vivo culture of blood vessels and primary cells with minimum training. The Wang lab pioneers in endotyping cardiovascular tissues. Candidates will have the opportunity to work with industry experts and lab members to gain technical skills in multiplex imaging (PhenoCycler), spatial gene expression, and bulk/single-cell RNA sequencing (10xGenomics). Candidates are expected to write SOPs and train new students to process samples for these cutting-edge ‘Omics’ technologies. Regarding management, candidates will be in charge of organizing the lab’s inventory and supplies of the lab and updating the lab website regularly.Organizational StatusThe candidate will report directly to Dr. Ying Wang and work with other lab members.Work Performed
