- Overseeing and holding the accountability for the expansion of Hatch’s regional Community and Social Performance practice in Ontario and Eastern Canada.
- Managing and growing a team of community engagement and social performance practitioners and ensuring high quality deliverables to mining, energy, and infrastructure clients
- Incorporating region-specific social performance opportunities into the total service offering to clients (social due diligence for transactional services, local supplier development, workforce inclusion, social risk assessments, stakeholder engagement planning, etc.)
- Working with senior leaders to help grow the revenue and profit of our existing Community Engagement and Social Performance team as part of Hatch’s Environment & Sustainability practice
- Focusing on business development activities and identifying new opportunities with clients
- Supporting the training and development of team members that hold a direct reporting relationship
- Developing innovative solutions for our clients on engagement for a variety of stakeholders, including but not limited to: Indigenous groups, communities, academia, non-governmental organizations, government, media
- Project management and coordination of our client’s projects
- Sharing your experiences with colleagues and clients at speaking events, networking events, conferences, webinars and through online blog posts
- Minimum of 15-20 years’ experience in community and stakeholder engagement or communications
- Post-secondary education in environmental planning, environmental science communications, conflict management, sustainability, law, or other equivalent degree
- Proven experience in building a team, consulting service, or business
- Experience managing a team and proven ability to work collaboratively with global functions
- Strong understanding of the history and culture of vulnerable community groups, including Indigenous communities in Canada
- Demonstrated stakeholder engagement, project execution and client engagement experience
- Creative approach with a willingness recommend innovative client solutions
- Well-versed in environmental approvals and permitting requirements
- Broad understanding of international social best practices such as the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards, Equator Principles, Convention 169, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
- Experience working on major projects in a stakeholder engagement capacity
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as required
- Effective, open communication and presentation style with the ability to plan and deliver best in class, high quality client deliverables
