The position requires a skilled business and information professional capable of taking responsibility for identifying concept solutions to environmental and sustainable tourism projects within the business and liaising with the government (local and federal levels) to maintain compliance with eco-educational tourist operations within national parks. Mr. Travel, cooperating marine operations, and associated business entities are involved. A background in business, hospitality/tourism, and environmental science is required. Additionally, the incumbent must be a good communicator who can easily build relationships with clients, team members, and suppliers. As the role involves organizing data and information related to environmental business practices, sales, and marketing strategies, the responsibilities of an Environmental Officer are integrated into the role, requiring the incumbent to monitor and ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards of their own vessels and the tourist operators the company represents as a seller.Tasks and Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Assisting the sales team in supporting travel sales assistants with the information and IT solutions required for organizing travel arrangements for individuals and groups, ensuring their needs and preferences are met within budgetary constraints.
- Utilizing IT solutions for business purposes of marketing and sales.
- Sourcing and providing salespeople with the information required for clients' personalized travel recommendations, itineraries, and packages tailored to their interests, preferences, and budget.
- Assisting with research team trips to the Great Barrier Reef and developing, delivering, and updating the company's environmental plan and procedures, also ensuring environmental records are maintained.
- Maintaining contact and interaction with various government bodies such as GRBUMPA, councils, states, and tourism-related organizations like Tourism QLD, Tourism AU, and the Whitsundays Chamber of Commerce CCIQ.
- Fostering relationships, negotiating partnerships, and ensuring alignment with diverse stakeholders' interests and objectives.
- Providing accurate and engaging information, which is key to attracting customers. Therefore, the role of Information professionals is important in providing online content via social media platforms to inspire and assist travelers when planning their trips.
- Contributing wildlife information to marketing newsletters for tourists.
- Using environmental/wildlife images/videos to enhance and promote appreciation of cruises/tours.
- Ensuring environmental messages/eco tours/Eco Barge and other community messages are delivered to tourists via tour promotional materials.
- Ensuring the most recent information is available to the operators working with the sales team to maintain compliance with eco-educational tourist operations within the national park of the Great Barrier Reef.
- Promoting environmental and conservation projects and sustainable (eco-tourism) efforts to activate customer interactions.
- Ensuring up-to-date and relevant information on the website for environmental contributions supporting sales of eco tours and marine mammal viewing trips.
