Assistant Track Manager - Gold Coast Turf Club

• Assist the Racecourse Manager in the preparation of facilities, amenities and grounds for pre- and post-race day.
• Provide expertise in maintaining quality turf surfaces for racing purposes.
• Assist with the progress of works projects relating to tracks and racing facilities.
• Work closely with internal and external stakeholders including Racing Queensland officials, trainers, jockeys, contractors, and suppliers.
• Develop and manage annual racecourse maintenance plans for turf, gardens and plant and machinery.
• Assist with leading and skilling a team responsible for maintaining and improving the condition of the racing surface and the surrounding grounds.
• Ensure staff receive appropriate training, induction, and supervision to enable them to complete tasks safely and efficiently and to the required standard.

• Formal qualifications in horticulture and or turf management will be highly regarded.
• Excellent communication skills especially for proactively leading and encouraging staff to understand and complete daily and weekly job tasks.
• Sound competencies with Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook email.
• Racing industry experience and knowledge are highly regarded but not necessary.
• Certification in chemical storage, handling, and application.
• Extensive experience managing, maintaining, and operating irrigation systems.
• Ability to drive and operate required machinery and coordinate servicing and maintenance.
• Must also have current First Aid Certificate, Drivers Licence and strong knowledge of OH&S.
