About Us: Gympie and District Landcare Group (GDLG) is a longstanding community-based organization dedicated to serving the local natural resource management sector and landowners. With a proud 30-year history, our members and volunteers actively engage in a range of activities, including operating a native plant nursery, providing land care services, offering biological services for invasive plant species control, fostering community land care education, and much more. As an incorporated association and registered charity, we are committed to our vision and purpose, guided by a Management Committee (MC) elected annually by our members.Purpose of Position: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager (GM) to lead our organization's growth and strategic direction. Based in Gympie, you will collaborate with stakeholders in the natural resource management sector, championing our vision and mission. Reporting to the MC, you will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth, fostering collaboration, and building a culture of community engagement.Hours: 30.4 hours per week, flexible hours negotiable.Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the MC to refine and execute a comprehensive organizational strategy plan aligned with our vision and mission.
  • Lead organization development efforts to accommodate future growth and improve operational capabilities.
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve improved year-on-year profit for reinvestment into our community and biosphere.
  • Maintain excellent customer relationships through strong retention efforts and exceptional service.
  • Identify funding opportunities, develop funding applications, and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Provide effective leadership and management of staff, working collaboratively with department heads and the MC.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including natural resource management groups and government entities.
  • Develop and manage organizational budgets, ensuring effective expenditure controls and financial management.
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting to the MC on financial and productivity achievements.
  • Support customer-facing operations with marketing, public relations, and sales efforts.
Selection Criteria: To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Extensive experience or qualifications in business management, particularly in the profit-for-purpose sector and preferably in the environmental sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and motivate employees to deliver results.
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to manage operations within budgets.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and ability to meet performance targets.
  • Experience in marketing and excellent communication skills.
  • Well-developed skills in liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to implement change and deliver outcomes across the organization.
  • An established network and relationships in the environmental and relevant government space will be highly regarded.
  • A genuine passion for environmental and community outcomes.
  • A current C class driver’s license and the ability to travel locally.
