- Establishes and maintains local Wabtec QMS Procedures, Policies, Registers and Regulatory and Auditing Programs.
- Promotes a continuous improvement culture and implement best practice management systems in the workplace.
- Interfaces regularly with production personnel, support staff, and members of the leadership team during the resolution of EHS issues and the implementation of corrective actions.
- Performs duties required by the Safety Management System and Regional strategy.
- Participates in the development of new initiatives and solutions for continuous improvement based upon the risk of the business.
- Interpret, implement, and evaluate ongoing adequacy of EHS standards.
- Review and follow up on SLAM Card comments/concerns.
- Prepare and conduct safety training sessions for employees and vendors.
- Ensure compliance with all State Regulatory bodies and Australian Standards.
- Develop, recommend, and monitor corrective and preventive actions.
- Prepare reports to communicate outcomes of EHS activities or incidents.
- Participates in cross-functional efforts to ensure proper corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
- Collaborates with production personnel to identify systemic root causes for non-conformances.
- Investigate and lead Incidents and non-conformance issues.
- Must comply with mandatory random drug & alcohol testing.
- Attend and deliver toolbox talks and workplace safety meetings including the establishment of a EHS Committee (if required).
- Undertake and conduct training required for the position.
- Maintain records, compiles information, and prepares reports for internal and external stakeholders and bodies.
- Performs preliminary review and analysis including liaising with Wabtec EHS teams for Incident Investigations and during lessons learned verifications.
- Provides support to manufacturing operations in the review risks associated with products and or engineering and manufacturing processes.
- Performs audits in accordance with Wabtec standards, reports result, assigns and monitors follow-up actions
- Maintains Non-Conformance document revision, change management and audit tracking systems.
- Review the implementation and efficiency of EHS systems and how it is applied onsite.
- Document internal audits and other EHS activities; evaluate findings and implement appropriate. corrective actions with relevant stakeholders.
- Oversee document management systems.
- Participate in workplace inspections and safe work observations.
- Ensure mandatory PPE is applied.
- Tertiary Qualifications in Safety or Engineering discipline, Operations, or equivalent significant Mining/Manufacturing industry experience
- ISO45001 Certification/Lead Auditor Accreditation
- Track record of building relationships, influencing and communicating with a broad range of stakeholders to achieve business outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to identify problems, analyse data, generate opinions and implement innovative solutions to complex problems.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to compile and present reports.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritise workloads.
- Thorough and accurate with attention to detail.
- Must be able to work as part of a team, with or without supervision.
- Flexibility with work hours and willingness to travel if required.
