Eligibility/Security Requirement: Applicants Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Negative Vetting Level 1”.About the TeamThe Fraud Intelligence and Investigations Branch detects and responds to internal and external payment fraud against the Scheme. The branch focus is on protecting the Scheme’s financial sustainability, strengthening fraud control arrangements, and supporting the Fraud Fusion Taskforce to strengthen the Commonwealth’s fraud detection and response capability.About the RoleThe APS6 Fraud Investigator (Labor Hire) is accountable under limited direction to undertake complex work that is guided by legislation, policies, procedures, standards, methodologies, and precedents.
The role is a team membership position that may be required to perform work that involves team leadership and management responsibilities requiring the setting of priorities and managing workflows of a team.The APS6 Fraud Investigator (Labor Hire) is required to provide detailed technical, professional, policy, operational support and advice in relation to complex problems. Where required, the role will coordinate and assist in the strategic planning, program and project management and policy development that support the Agency’s objectives to “build a world-leading National Disability Insurance Scheme”.Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
  • Utilizing a Certificate IV in Government Investigations, or its equivalent to conduct complex and sensitive criminal investigation activities in accordance with Agency processes and the Australian Government Investigation Standards.
  • Conducting interviews, preparing statements and affidavits, collecting, securing and managing evidential material and confidential information Preparing cases and briefs of evidence for referral to relevant parties such as the Australian Federal Police and Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions.
  • Providing evidence in criminal and civil court as a representative of the Agency.
  • Analyzing and processing information to produce accurate and informative reports, undertaking administration, reporting and project work as required.
  • Conducting formal and informal discussions with Agency staff and partners, partner agencies, NDIS participants, providers and third parties.
  • Assisting with the execution of search warrants, which may require domestic air travel and working extended hours including overnight stays.
Key skills required for role:
  • Utilizing a Cert IV in Government investigations, or its equivalent to conduct complex and sensitive criminal investigation activities in accordance with Agency’s processes and the Australian Government Investigation Standards.
  • High level interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and autonomously.
  • Experience in conducting interviews, preparing statements and affidavits, collecting, securing and managing evidential material and confidential information.
  • Ability to analyze and process information to produce accurate and informative reports.
  • Experience in conducting formal and informal discussions with partner agencies.
  • Ability to use computer/software applications including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to assist with the execution of search warrants, which may require domestic travel, overnight stays and working extended hours.
Desirable skills to have for the role:
  • Experience in providing evidence in criminal and/or civil court.
  • Experience in preparing briefs of evidence.
