Software engineers within CommSec are offered regular opportunities to work on some of the finest IT systems in Australia, as well as having opportunity to develop careers across different functions and teams within the wider Bank.As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will bring your expertise in quality assurance, test automation, risk management, solving business problems, optimising our systems, and contribute to strategic test automation initiatives to evolve testing automation practices and tools. You will be creating and maintaining front-end and back-end automation frameworks to ensure quality and reliability of our systems. You will be embedded in a cross functional team that is self-managing with end-to-end responsibility for designing, delivering, and optimising a broad range of customer-focused outcomes.We’re interested in hearing from people who:Will be the squad's "Quality Advocate," encouraging a critical thinking mindset and drive prevention of defects over detection of defectsContributes to the development of test harnesses, frameworks, tools and infrastructure to enable test automation, CI/CD and code qualityBuilds robust test doubles to minimise dependenciesPerforms basic maintenance and monitoring of non-production environmentsInfluences product design, implementation and enhancement to support testability and qualityAutomates basic real time anomaly detection through services such as log monitoringBuilds, integrates and maintains basic solution to provide test dataUtilises standardised metrics and reporting to provide testing and quality insightsCreates well-engineered, scalable and reliable testParticipates in learning culture through activities such as guild presentations and blogsWorks closely with everyone on project squads to deliver fit-for-purpose solutionsTech Skills:We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:Expertise with setting up and applying test automation for large-scale applicationsWeb application testing using Selenium and PlaywrightAPI testing automation with frameworks such as RestSharp or RestAssuredExperience in contract testing frameworks such as PACTDemonstrable working experience in code repository & version control tools such as GitKnowledge of Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD)Knowledge of Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) with tools such as Gherkin and SpecFlowWorking with us:Whether you’re passionate about customer service, driven by data, or called by creativity, a career with us is for you.We support our people with the flexibility to balance where work is done with at least half their time connecting in office.
