Snr Legal Counsel, Labour & Employment - 12 month fixed term contract

- Provide legal advice and counsel to HR, managers, including key business leaders, and other internal lawyers, both within and outside the US, regarding the full range of labour and employment legal issues in APAC.
- Advise NBCUniversal and, as appropriate, instruct outside counsel with respect to internal investigations, employment litigation and the employment-related aspects of acquisitions and dispositions of businesses.
- Build close relationships with HR and Legal in order to foster a partnering approach.
- Analyze and advise with respect to the impact of legislative changes on our operations
- Conduct investigations in to highly-sensitive and/or complex matters relating to allegations of harassment, discrimination, complaints about manager(s), and/or work environment in partnership with the internal Employment Law team and HR
- Prepare investigative documents and record cases in case management tool
- Communicate and report out findings to key stakeholders
- Partner with internal team to identify trends and make recommendations for training or other proactive measures
- Lead and collaborate with the broader team on positive employee relations initiatives
- Create and implement new policies, procedures, and trainings as relating to respect in the workplace
- A minimum of 5 years PQE as an employment lawyer in Australia, including significant experience conducting investigations. Knowledge of and experience with employment laws in other countries across APAC would be beneficial but is not a pre-requisite.The ability to work well in a fast-paced, high volume, matrixed in-house environment, demonstrating good business judgment, flexibility and self-confidence.
- Demonstrable experience acting as a trusted business partner enabling businesses to measure and manage risk in a changing landscape.
- Experience conducting investigations in a corporate environment and ability to conduct investigations with empathy, tact and discretion.
- ·Experience providing trainings to diverse audiences.
- The ability to be innovative and provide creative solutions to complex legal problems.
- A collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Whilst beneficial, prior in-house experience is not necessary.
