As the incumbent in this role, you will be entrusted with the responsibility of orchestrating a comprehensive category management service, strategically aligning it with the overarching business needs to optimize overall profitability. Your primary focus will encompass the identification of cost management opportunities, active facilitation of end-user engagement, execution of cost reduction initiatives, and the provision of continuous feedback to all relevant stakeholders.Your proficiency in managing the total cost of ownership, cultivating strategic relationships with suppliers, and ensuring compliance with contractual agreements will be instrumental in achieving our overarching goals of cost optimisation, operational excellence, and sustained profitability.To fulfil the outlined purpose, your responsibilities will encompass:Commodity Management:
- Strategically analyse and manage commodity portfolios.
- Optimise sourcing strategies to mitigate commodity-related risks.
- Collaborate with end-users and suppliers to ensure a stable and cost-effective supply of commodities.
- Conduct detailed TCO analyses for informed decision-making.
- Implement strategies to optimize TCO and enhance cost-effectiveness throughout the product lifecycle.
- Foster a culture of innovation and adaptability.
- Foster collaboration with end-users for effective decision-making.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through effective communication and problem resolution.
- Engage in strategic negotiations with local and global suppliers.
- Manage term agreements and purchase orders to streamline procurement.
- Develop and execute comprehensive inventory and material planning strategies.
- Ensure seamless order fulfillment through proactive planning.
- Oversee logistics for timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address logistical challenges.
- Develop and maintain a robust supplier management program.
- Assess and improve supplier performance against KPIs.
- Negotiate and manage contracts ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with contractual terms.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the success and efficiency of sourcing activities.
- Prepare regular reports for management, highlighting key achievements and areas for improvement.
- Facilitate and present training sessions for end-users, ensuring proficiency in supply chain procedures.
- Working collaboratively with your team to continually upskill, develop and encourage.
- Bachelors degree in engineering, Business Administration, Legal or Supply Chain Management (Postgraduate degree will be an advantage).
- At least 8 years experience in Contracts & Procurement of which at least 5 years in a Category Management role where a portfolio of highly complex and high value commodity types were under your control.
- Experience in managing disparate teams.
- High computer literacy with complex procurement systems (We utilise SAP and Coupa).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
