APS6 Finance Officer, 6 month contract, $602.55 per day, ASAP startAbout the OrganisationBased within a Federal Government organisation putting stakeholders at the heart of their work, the organisational values reflect a passion and commitment to building a positive, stakeholder-centred culture.About the OpportunityThis role is a 6 month contract based opportunity with a high chance of renewal. A flexible, hybrid work environment ensures a great work-life balance - this is a Geelong based position and requires some time spent in office. This is a full time position open to Australian Citizens only.About the TeamThe Agency Budget and Finance Controls Branch is responsible for the financial management of the Agency, and provides insightful financial reporting to enable strategic decision making.Key accountabilities include producing audited annual financial statements, the Annual Report, budgets, monthly financial reports and forecasts. The branch manages the maintenance and development of finance systems, analysing financial performance, and providing financial advice to support decision making and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements. They provide financial reports and advice to support the business manage its group, division and branch level budgets.Responsibilities of the RoleSome of the requirements of the role include (but are not limited to):

Prepare end of month accruals.
Monthly monitoring, trend analysis and reporting of financial performance.
Prepare and review reconciliations.
Assist in the preparation of Annual budgets and undertake budget reviews, monitoring and forecasts.
Provide finance advice that is consistent with accounting standards, legislation and internal policies.
Assist in process improvement projects to ensure efficient and effective Finance operations.

Requirements

Australian Citizenship
Qualified Accountant
Accounting experience with 3-5 years in a medium to large organisation
