Fantastic opportunity for casual Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Actors, to participate in a 2024 project funded by the University of Sydney’s One Sydney, Many People Strategy - Improving Faculty of Medicine and Health (FMH) Student Cultural Capability: Embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scenarios into the FMH Simulation CurriculumThis role will be a 6-month casual contractHEO 5 Step 4 $62.19 per hourAbout the opportunityThe Faculty of Medicine and Health at The University of Sydney are recruiting a pool of casual Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Actors, to participate in a 2024 project funded by the University of Sydney’s One Sydney, Many People Strategy - Improving Faculty of Medicine and Health (FMH) Student Cultural Capability: Embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scenarios into the FMH Simulation Curriculum. Actors will also have ongoing opportunities to participate in simulation-based education.The project aims to develop authentic Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander simulation scenarios which are based on lived experience and which recognize the local context and diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. All scenarios are co-designed and co-facilitated with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.The ultimate goal of the project is to improve cultural capability of FMH health professions students and help them graduate with the necessary skills to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.The University of Sydney values the skills, expertise and unique cultural lens Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people bring to the University community, and we are looking for a casual pool of actors who can bring their lived experience and culture to participate in the project to help us ensure staff, students, and community members can engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culture in respectful, ethical, and responsive ways.The role/s would involve piloting scenarios in real time with students, staff and facilitators, and acting in the developed simulation scenarios produced as sustainable video resources that will be embedded in the curriculum indefinitely.The University values courage and creativity; openness and engagement; inclusion and diversity; and respect and integrity.
