Based on the Gold Coast, QueenslandAbout the PositionAn opportunity has arisen for a distinguished academic to join the Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine in the Biomedical Science program. This role provides an ideal opportunity for an individual with the proven capacity to provide leadership and promote a culture of excellence in biomedical and health sciences teaching and research.We are seeking an innovative and engaging teacher and researcher who is committed to helping students develop a deep understanding of genetics and molecular diagnostics and who has a collaborative mindset willing to engage in interdisciplinary research. The current group of academics collaborate across disciplines including nutrition and dietetics, medicine, sports and exercise science and bio-medical science. Research Centres in the faculty include the Clem Jones Centre for Regenerative Medicine and the Centre for Urology Research. Strong relationships currently exist with external university research groups where laboratories are based.About the personThe ideal candidate will have a PhD and an internationally recognised track record with evidence of effective teaching, scholarship and research in genetics and academic administration relevant to biomedical and health sciences disciplines. They will have excellent leadership skills including the ability to mentor and support staff at all levels as well as significant experience in building effective working relationships. Area(s) of research expertise that will synergise with the current faculty research interests within the Biomedical and Health Sciences field in order to maximise potential for collaborative research would be advantageous.
