Treasury's Investment Review Branch are seeking experienced and motivated regulatory professionals across the APS5, APS6 and EL1 levels.About the RolesWe are seeking experienced and motivated regulatory professionals across the APS5, APS6 and EL1 levels to assist with the following:
  • Assess and critically analyse foreign investment matters to identify risks to Australia's national interest and national security, and regulatory risk and address them through appropriate risk mitigation strategies
  • Engage a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including investors, their advisers, and Australian, state and territory government agencies
  • Develop and deliver advice for Treasury Ministers and other decision makers to support the Government's foreign investment policy objectives and meet community expectations about the regulation of foreign investment in Australia
  • Be an active contributor in a flexible, diverse, supportive and high-performing team that is driven by achieving quality outcomes
Investment Review Officers at the APS5 level will:
  • Manage a portfolio of active, moderately complex foreign investment proposals in a fast-paced, dynamic regulatory environment
  • Have accountability for tasks and decisions and drive foreign investment assessments through to completion
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders in analysing proposals and delivering high quality advice and decisions
  • Actively support your manager in setting work priorities, addressing risks, and administering foreign investment proposals in line with legislative and policy requirements
  • Contribute to various business and process improvement initiatives
Senior Investment Review Officers at the APS6 level, under limited direction, will:
  • Manage a number of highly complex foreign investment proposals in a fast-paced, dynamic regulatory environment, including providing timely and accurate specialised advice
  • Develop and support complex relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including anticipating and responding to stakeholder needs and expectations
  • Contribute to and assist your manager in setting work priorities, addressing risks, and administering foreign investment proposals in line with legislative and policy requirements
  • Contribute to various business and process improvement initiatives
Assistant Directors at the EL1 level, under limited direction, will:
  • Manage a broad portfolio of work with competing priorities, and to exercise sound judgment and demonstrate resilience while achieving outcomes in a challenging, fast-paced environment
  • Contribute as a member of the Investment Review Branch's leadership team and support the work of staff within a team
  • Demonstrate analyitical interpersonal, and oral and written communications skills including the ability to liaise and engage with internal and external parties; develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders; and promote reconciliation of alternative positions to achieve timely and robust outcomes
  • Interpret and apply legislation, administrative law principles, and regulatory frameworks to complex and specialised matters to make evidence-based recommendations on investment proposals
