In this role, you will assist council and the community to ensure that biodiversity and natural landscapes are retained, protected and enhanced. This will be achieved through sensitive management of our extensive marine and coastal infrastructure. Over 46 kilometres of coastline, development of asset management strategies, communication tools and adherence to legislation.Work type: Permanent full time
Classification: Band 6 ($90,263-$97,365 pa plus super)Key responsibilities include:
- Maintain coastal and marine infrastructure assets including boat harbours, boat ramps, jetties, pontoons, fish cleaning tables, seawalls, paths, lookouts, carparks and any other infrastructure located in the coastal and marine environments.
- Prepare asset management/maintenance plans, and update and maintain the asset management register for coastal and marine infrastructure assets.
- Develop briefs, project manage and supervise contractors undertaking on-ground works and consultants engaged to providing technical expertise.
- Oversee the City's dredging and beach cleaning programs, including the preparation of detailed dredging plans.
- Prepare in partnership with relevant government agencies specialist permits required to undertake works.
- Prepare specialist information about coastal and marine issues for internal and external stakeholders, such as communication tools, FAQ, information notes, signage and guidelines.
To be successful in this role, you will have a Tertiary qualification in either Coastal Management, Natural Resource Management and/or Environmental Sustainability with several years' experience in the same or like fields and/or post graduate qualification. Tertiary qualification in project management, or a related field or equivalent experience that demonstrates this level of knowledge would otherwise be required.Essential Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in working in the coastal and marine environment with a goal of protecting the environment and improving amenity and recreation.
- Demonstrated experience in contractor, consultant, and project management.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups, both verbally and in writing.
- Sound knowledge of marine and coastal legislation. Ability to provide strategic and policy advice on coastal and marine issues.
- Considerable experience in developing innovative responses to coastal protection with an understanding of climate change impacts that draw on research and the results of ongoing monitoring.
- Current Victorian Drivers Licence.
