The Research Associate will contribute to NHMRC-funded research under the broad direction of the Angioscience and Cardiovascular Development Group, as part of the Neurovascular Research Laboratory at the Centre for Cancer Biology. This work will involve using a broad range of developmental, cell, molecular biology and single-cell sequencing techniques to understand how neural crest cells contribute to normal development of the heart, and how disfunction of these processes can underpin congenital heart disease.About UniSAThe is Australia's University of Enterprise. The CCB studies the fundamental causes of cancer in order to find new ways to prevent and treat the disease and is a recognised hub for innovative science leading to breakthrough therapies.Core Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the planning of research by participating in planning sessions, offering new ideas on research directions, reviewing relevant literature and other sources of information
  • Contribute to the execution of research by actively participating in the production of data with limited freedom to explore possible new methods and directions, designing experiments including appropriate controls, according to the planned aims of the research
  • Contribute to the dissemination of new knowledge by drafting reports, abstracts, scientific papers and other instruments providing accounts of research understanding and the findings observed.
  • Contribute to a safe and ethical working environment
Essential Skills and Experience
  • A postgraduate qualification in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, genetics, developmental biology, or a related discipline
  • Experience, as demonstrated in the track record of publications or PhD/Masters Thesis work, in cell and molecular biology techniques including cell/tissue culture, immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy, molecular cloning, RNA/protein expression analysis
  • Experience in or capability to learn bioinformatic analysis of RNA sequencing and single-cell datasets
  • Willingness to work with animal models of embryo development
  • Demonstrated experience in presenting and communicating research results
