THE OPPORTUNITYThe GIS Specialist is responsible for ensuring that Council has reliable and accurate GIS system. This role is also responsible for providing accurate and reliable online and mobile mapping solutions, providing spatial data analysis services to internal customers, as well as operating Council’s Remotely Piloted Aircraft (Drone) program.DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain the corporate GIS system (ESRI, Geocortex and Microsoft SQL)
  • Provide an accurate and reliable GIS service to the organisation
  • Provide expert advice to management in relation to projects involving spatial data
  • Provide support and training documentation and deliver training to users for spatial applications
  • Coordinate an efficient and effective Remotely Piloted Aircraft (Drone) program
ABOUT YOUYou are a GIS professional with a Bachelor in GIS, Spatial Science, Geoscience, Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline. You enjoy contributing to an effective and productive team and providing technical advice to management and asset owners. You promote the use of GIS technologies and have a passion for producing effective GIS solutions. You have sound knowledge of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) and the application of drones in a large organisation.TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE
  • Bachelor in GIS, Spatial Science, Geoscience, Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline;
or relevant qualifications with significant relevant experience * Experience in the operation of a GIS system, specifically experience in the ESRI platform
  • Demonstrated experience in project management
  • Experience in spatial analysis editing and mapping production capabilities including web mapping protocols
  • Experience in GPS/Survey data acquisition
