We are working on maintaining and upgrading assets which have been powering Tasmania for over 100 years. We are also in a front row seat with some incredible new projects in the penstock such as Battery of the Nation. You get to learn and gain experience in a company with a long history of high-quality successful upgrades, refurbishments, and maintenance planning. This includes incredibly skilled inhouse trade staff and a world class inhouse workshop with extensive machining capability.About You:You're a driven and enthusiastic Mechanical Engineer with experience in the energy industry or have transferable skills from another industry. Your skill set includes experience in mechanical engineering such as:
  • NDT methods and interpretation of results
  • FEA + CAD
  • Welding inspection and quality assurance; understanding of impact on design and manufacture.
  • Hydraulic systems that control mechanical equipment
  • Refurbishment of rotating machinery (eg specifications for machining, welding, assembly, disassembly)
  • Procurement (specification, material selection)
  • Understanding of design processes and drawing management
About the role:This position will initially be a 12-month maximum term contract. Option for extension may become a possibility.Working in medium sized teams, you will be involved in the successful delivery of end-to-end project life cycle ensuring that Hydro Tasmania's iconic assets will be able to continue to keep the lights on in Tasmania for many years to come. Your stakeholders include the Asset and Environmental Strategy and Risk team, direct project team as well as site managers and supervisors.At times you will travel to our remote power stations across the state to support the refurbishment program.Further information can be found on the attached Position Description:Please attach your resume and a cover letter outlining what skills and experience you will bring as soon as possible.
