- Provides the full range of psychiatric diagnosis and treatment to patients in an in-and-out-patient setting.
- Handles consultations of cases referred to him from other services by offering clinical advice or assuming full responsibility of the care.
- Contributes to the orientation of physicians, psychologists, social workers, nurses and other Medical Organization personnel in the early detection, recognition, management or referral of psychiatric cases.
- Participates in the continuing medical education for physicians and nurses by talks in staff meetings, presenting cases in ward rounds, and lecturing to nurses.
- Participates in teaching and quality assurance programs.
- Takes after hours or weekend calls as required by specific cases or in emergency situations as requested.
- Graduation from an approved medical school plus one year of internship and three years of residency; certification by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology or Member of the Royal College of Physicians (or its equivalent).
- At least five (5) years of practice as a psychiatrist after certification.
- Excellent command of oral and written English and Hindi/Urdu. Basic knowledge of Arabic medical terminology is desirable but not essential.
- Must be highly skilled in the particular field of practice, with mature clinical judgment and ability to provide professional leadership. He / she must have a thorough knowledge of Medical Department policies and procedures with particular reference to the obligation to maintain the confidentiality of his work; personality which inspires confidence and trust in his patients; and adhere to Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Organization.
- Current licensure in country of origin and with DOH license to practice Psychiatric Medicine in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients & families.
