- Experience of ADNOC, BP, Total (or a similar organisation)
- A Broad range of experience, at least 10 years, in the construction, commissioning and project management in the Mechanical discipline for the Onshore and Offshore Oil & Gas industry.
- The ability to co-ordinate and provide assurance on all Mechanical, installation and completions activities.
- Requires an in depth knowledge of Rotating machinery & Equipment.
- Requires on depth knowledge of online & offline condition monitoring equipment.
- Requires an in depth knowledge of Compressors & ancillary systems.
- Requires an in depth knowledge of Mechanical seal systems.
- Requires an depth knowledge of bolt tightening & torqueing techniques.
- Requires an depth knowledge of hydrotesting and experience of pigging.
- Requires an depth knowledge of flushing and retro jetting.
- Requires an depth knowledge of Nitrogen Helium Leak Testing.
- Requires an depth knowledge of Oil & Gas Upstream Utility Packages.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Experience of multicultural project teams.

- Evaluation of safety hazards and preparation of risk assessments.
- Responsible for witnessing & validation of Mechanical Pre-Commissioning & Commissioning activities.
- Validation of discipline status indices by system.
- Provide input to planning team to establish commissioning network, priorities, durations and look ahead schedules.
- Provide input into man-hour estimates for all work to be carried out and provide input to the reporting system.
- Develop a detailed understanding of the contractor’s overall construction programme from site start-up to completion & provide assurance that the fabricators detailed plans for the Mechanical works are suitable and that bottlenecks, shortages, etc are identified and resolved.
- Identification of any areas of work scope minimisation during the course of the project.
- Witness and validate preservation activities.
- Review Commissioning & start up spares including Vendor spare parts and consumable list.
- Identification of materials, tools & test equipment required for commissioning.
- Review the HSE requirements of all specialist equipment/fluids.
- Review vendor packages for compliance with specifications witness running tests and final factory acceptance.
- Identification of temporary equipment required for commissioning of the facility
- Assist installation contractor & monitor execution of work to achieve mechanical completion.
- Ensure that the design, procurement and installation of fabricator supplied equipment and materials conform to project specifications and operational requirements and the fabricators schedule.
- Review the fabricators procedures & shop drawings, provide assurance that the Mechanical systems are built to project specifications.
- Ensure all temporary transportation supports, bracing or other foreign objects that were installed in vessels, ducts, piping, transformers, machinery etc are removed.
- Witness installation of Mechanical equipment.
- Witness installation of Mechanical Packaged Equipment.
- Witness installation of HVAC system.
- Inspect & test tanks and internals, as required.
- Shell and tube exchangers – perform field inspection.
- Witness chemical cleaning or flushing operations.
- Acceptance of Mechanically Complete sub-systems from the Contractor including punch out, clearance and handover.
- Interface with Engineering support personnel on technical matters.
- Respond to site queries raised by Construction Contractor regarding Mechanical issues
- Provide technical support to the installation construction supervisors.
- Witness & validate cold alignment & hot alignment.
- Check rotating equipment for correct direction of rotation and for freedom of moving parts before connection to driver.
- Witness vessel internals installation, including trays, weirs & packing.
- Air cooled exchangers – inspect to ensure temporary shipping supports and erection materials have been removed. Adjust fan assemblies. Check operation of louvers.
- Commission HVAC system including balancing of system.
- Carry out vibration monitoring checks and make baseline surveys of rotating equipment.
- Conduct individual equipment noise surveys.
- Production of Commissioning Procedures.
- Production of specific method statements / procedures.
- Identify / arrange & supervise supplier representatives to assist commissioning.
- Co-ordinate and direct technicians and ADNOC operations technicians to progress Commissioning activities in line with Project Planning Priorities and Commissioning Procedures.
- Provide assistance to operations during start up.
