With chartering and freight trading activities in Singapore, Geneva and Houston, the company effectively covers any chartering needs the Group or market may have at any given time, supported by a highly motivated and experienced team of freight traders and operators around the world. The operations and claims are handled out of Singapore and Tallinn. Since 2003, Clearlake Shipping has operated around a high-quality fleet of tankers, LPG and LNG carriers on both a spot and a time-charter basis. Clearlake’s activities include chartering an average of 1,500 vessels annually, performing freight hedging (FFA), operations, claims handling and terminal safety consultations.Group Shipping activities include ownership stakes in some vessels that Clearlake charters, entering into joint ventures for newly built refined products tankers.Overview of the RoleReporting to the Global Head, Demurrage & Claims, this person will review and coordinate demurrage and claims on behalf of Clearlake to ensure minimum exposure, working with internal and external stakeholders on the claims process to ensure smooth transparency.Main Responsibilities

Calculate and invoice demurrage and voyage related claims incurred for each voyage, promptly with required documentation in accordance with the terms and conditions of the governing charter party
Negotiate effectively to pursue collections of outstanding demurrages and claims escalation
Liaise with Shipping Operators and/ or Master and/ or Agent for missing information or documentation and follow up proactively
Record demurrage and claims and ensure compliance with electronic filing process
Prepare weekly and monthly demurrage reports
Track, highlight and provide feedback on unfavorable clauses to Freight Traders
Develop solid relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to maintain smooth collection of outstanding claims, including travelling to meet external stakeholders, if necessary
Collate relevant correspondences for Legal Counsel or P&I Club review on claims that need to be turned over for legal recovery
Evaluate validity of claims and take initiative to be stay updated on new rulings, new clauses, how Charter party provisions are changing, etc. through seminars and relevant industry events
Any other ad-hoc tasks as assigned by supervisor

ProfileThe individual should have the following:

Minimum 5 years’ of relevant working experience in the Tanker or Oil & Gas Trading industry.
Strong understanding of the various charter parties, commercial contracts, laytime and demurrage provisions and the terminology associated with the petroleum industry.
Strong understanding of all time related and post deal claims
Strong analytical and communication skills
Self-motivated, Positive minded, Resolution focused.
Good knowledge of Shipping Operations and/or Law
