Primary Purpose of the Job
Execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities on offshore Controls & Instrumentation (C&I) to ensure integrity and performance compliance. The position closely cooperates with Control Room Operator, offshore Automation Engineer and other discipline technicians.Principal Accountabilities
1. Comply with Health, Safety and Environmental standards set by the company policies and procedures to ensure safe operations offshore.
2. Ensure all (C&I) works are executed under governance of Permit To Work system as part of Integrated Safe System Of Work (ISSOW).
3. Perform routine maintenance of offshore C&I equipment interfacing with: DCS, ESD, F&G and package control systems, driven by Preventive Maintenance program.
4. Perform corrective maintenance and troubleshooting activities on the C&I equipment once malfunction is reported or detected.
5. Provide support and liaise with external vendors during their presence offshore.
6. Perform implementation of minor modifications to C&I equipment as part of MOC process.
7. Review C&I equipment preventive maintenance routines and feedback to the Lead Instrument Supervisor to ensure continuous improvement of the plant availability within allocated budget and resources.
8. Ensure corrective and preventive maintenance work program is properly managed and documented in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) including details of equipment issues, failures history, performed troubleshooting and remedial activities.Decision Making Authority
Instrument Technician is required to make decisions on technical matters offshore under guidance of Lead Instrument Technician. Review maintenance routines for C&I equipment and feedback proposed improvements to Lead Instrument Technician.
Provide status updates of performed tasks and demonstrates adequate level of initiative in daily job planning and execution. Should have sufficient competence and will to adopt short term leadership role when required. Team player personality is a must.Context / Special Features / Challenges
Instrument Technician is demanded to have good understanding and hands-on experience with various kinds of C&I equipment as well as basic understanding of industrial automation systems and standalone PLC based packages, such as ABB DCS Infi90 + HMI 800xA, HIMA, TRICONEX, ABB Advant, Allen-Bradley PLC family.
Instrument Technician must be conversant with Control Systems design documentation such as P&ID, Loop Drawings, Wiring Diagrams, Control Schematics, C&E Matrix, equipment datasheets. Additionally strong knowledge of Oil and Gas offshore operations and maintenance regime, DCS and standalone PLC based systems and packages, field instrumentation and controls is an advantage. Instrument Technician must present sufficient communication skills and attitude to perform as an effective team player.Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Experience
- Requires a minimum educational background of secondary education plus two years of studies in technical instrumentation matters for industrial applications or diploma granted by an officially recognized educational institution in the relevant country.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar hands-on position in oil and gas field.
- Experienced in interfacing with other maintenance disciplines as well as other departments: Operations, Engineering & HSE to ensure compliance with standards and to meet company’s requirements.
