Content Developer at EDGE EDUCATION

Contract Type: Full-time, 12 months contracts

About the position 

We are looking for a dynamic content developer to join our technical content development team. If you’re passionate about using your expertise to create various educational materials that are accessible to students and have a firm grasp of the English language and educational principles, then this role is for you. Previous tutoring, lecturing, or teaching experience and a knack for writing would make you the ideal candidate for this role. 

As a content developer, you will be tasked with moderating, updating, creating, reviewing and reworking educational content relating to commerce courses or modules of varying NQF levels. 

As a content developer, your role will consist of the following key responsibilities:

  • Moderating, updating creating, reviewing and reworking (i.e. rewriting and rearranging) deliverables, including the following: 

○ Chapters/units in textbooks 

○ Study guides 

○ Assessments (exercises, corresponding solutions, and case studies)

○ Educational figures and diagrams

  • Applying sound educational principles and in-house best practices in the development of all deliverables.
  •  Researching topics and sourcing academically relevant content, including images, to effectively develop -content. 
  • Applying academic concepts and principles consistently throughout the development.
  • Ensuring alignment between the content and the outcomes stipulated. 
  • Creating custom academic figures to visually illustrate or complement the content. 
  • Liaising with and providing professional constructive feedback and clear direction to internal and external resources working on a development (including authors, other content developers, editing, layout, and multimedia teams).
  • Effecting changes based on peer and client feedback. 
  • Assisting with departmental administrative tasks (e.g. downloading icons, updating databases, scanning textbooks) where necessary.
  • Contributing to the development, maintenance, updating and improvement of all guides, templates and processes, if applicable.
  • Resolving internal and external queries related to content, and ensuring that all affected developments are updated accordingly. 
  • Participating in initiatives to ensure continuous improvement in the department and/or organisation.
  • Performing any duties as requested from time to time by either Content Development Team Leads or Academic Design Specialist(s), such as any coursebook-related work, reviewing or developing textbook outlines, assisting with training, and writing prefaces and blurbs for new textbooks.

Our requirements

Minimum education requirement for this role: 

  • SAICA accredited NQF level 8 Accounting qualification awarded by a faculty of commerce (Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Accounting, Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting  or equivalent)
