DescriptionUnder general supervision of the site administrator and/or Elementary Yard Duty Leader, supervises students, monitors, supports, and controls the designated areas of an elementary school campus and parking areas, and assists in assuring the safety of students; and performs other related duties as assigned.APPLICATION FILING PERIOD WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL A SUFFICIENT NUMBER OF QUALIFIED APPLICATIONS ARE RECEIVED. RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME.VACANCIES: Various opportunities exist for substitute assignments (temporary/as needed basis). All positions are part-time and range from 3 - 6 hours per day. Substitute employees are paid a fixed hourly rate at the first step only. Assignments may be in any part of the district boundaries (Glendale, La Crescenta or Montrose).Based on the immediate and future needs of the district, the same recruitment will also be used to fill permanent positions as opportunities become available.Email and/or phone calls are the primary forms of communication related to the recruitment and hiring processes. Classified Job Descriptions.-Provides supervision to children during non-instructional periods, under direction of a site administrator and/or Elementary Yard Duty Leader.
-Supervises students and enforces school procedures in assigned areas of the playground, outdoor eating areas, cafeteria, indoor assembly areas, halls, restrooms, and at other locations during assigned hours.
-Enforces school rules and safety regulations, security, discipline and activity rules where assigned.
-Works closely with staff in eliminating behavior problems occurring during assigned work hours in the activities in which students are engaged, such as at recess, lunch, before, and after school.
-Escorts students to various parts of the campus, and assists ill students to the health office.
-Performs other related duties as assigned.Employment StandardsKnowledge of:Positive behavior modification strategies and techniques. Ability to:Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships.Reinforce positive behaviors, motivate, and address inappropriate behaviors with students.Understand and carry out verbal and written instruction.Deal firmly, tactfully, and effectively with students.Lift and carry moderately heavy objects, normally not exceeding twenty (20) pounds.
