The mission of the position Consultant Microbiologist is to lead and oversee all aspects of microbiology services, including diagnostic accuracy, quality assurance, and team development. The person in this role will play a pivotal role in overseeing the operations of our Microbiology laboratory and establishing the center of excellence at multiple regional locations. Key Responsibilities: Laboratory Management: 1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the microbiology laboratory, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to regulatory standards. 2. Implement laboratory policies, procedures, and quality control protocols. 3. Monitor and manage laboratory resources, including equipment, supplies, and budgets. People Leadership: 1. Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise a team of technician, and support staff. 2. Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and professional development within the department. 3. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members. Diagnostic Excellence: 1. Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of microbiology analyses and diagnoses. 2. Stay updated on the latest advancements in microbiology and incorporate best practices into laboratory processes. 3. Collaborate with medical staff and researchers to provide expert consultations on complex cases. Quality Assurance and Compliance: 1. Establish and maintain quality assurance programs to meet regulatory requirements and ensure accurate and reliable diagnostic results. 2. Monitor and improve reporting turnaround times, quality control measures, and compliance with relevant standards. 3. Implement and oversee equipment maintenance and calibration procedures to maintain optimal performance. Consultation and Collaboration: 1. Provide expert consultation to referring physicians, hospitals, and healthcare providers to assist in patient management decisions. 2. Collaborate with other Consultants and laboratory staff to discuss complex cases, share knowledge, and contribute to the continuous professional development of the team. 3. Actively participate in interdisciplinary meetings and research activities to enhance diagnostic capabilities and contribute to laboratory advancements Documentation and Reporting: 1. Prepare accurate and detailed diagnostic reports, incorporating clinical and laboratory findings, in a timely manner. 2. Maintain comprehensive patient records, including specimen information, test results, and interpretations, following NABL guidelines and regulations. 3. Qualifications: Medical degree (MBBS, MD or equivalent) with board certification in a relevant specialty. Valid registration with the Medical Council of India (MCI) or State Medical Council. Strong knowledge of microbiology laboratory operations, quality assurance, and compliance Proficiency in using laboratory information systems (LIS) and other relevant software Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal skills, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities Proven ability to lead and develop a high-performing team.
